What’s special about Usborne and Kane/Miller books?
In 1973, Peter Usborne decided that educational, nonfiction books would need to change
in order to compete with TV and comics. He borrowed some ideas from these two media
and hired educational consultants to oversee the writing. Today, Usborne books continue
to feed hungry young minds with nonfiction for all ages and internet links that help kids find
accurate, age-appropriate information on the Internet. We also offer fiction for toddlers
through high school, activity books, and wonderful board books for babies.
Kane/Miller was started almost 25 years ago to bring award-winning children’s books from
around the world to an American audience. Kane/Miller books bring the world closer to a
child and the children of the world closer to each other. You’ll find beautifully illustrated
picture books, great middle-grade
novels, and young adult books that will
keep those tough-to-please tweens and
teens turning the pages and asking for
more!
Usborne and Kane/Miller books complement each other in so many ways.
They offer ways for adults to teach, bond, and share the world with a child.
